questions

Do you provide transportation services?

Driving can become more difficult as we age. The loss of a driver's license has a big impact on one's dignity, freedom, and quality of life. Furthermore, the lack of transportation options tailored towards seniors and those with disabilities is an emerging barrier in our communities.

We recognize these challenges faced by our clients. Although we do not offer transportation services, we do, on a case-by-case basis, assist or accompany our clients with outings to social and recreational activities, medical appointments, and dining out. This a small part of our caregiving and companionship focused services as transportation is not our strong suit. Instead, we do our best to refer our clients to services that are dedicated to assisted transportation. Some examples include:

Edmonton Area - Drive Happiness

Calgary Area - Calgary Seniors' Resource Society

If you are looking for transportation services, we encourage you to check out the above resources.

Are you accredited?

We sure are! Compassion Network is accredited by Accreditation Canada since 2020. Accreditation Canada is an independent, non-profit organization that accredits health care organizations that meet their standards in quality, safety, and efficiency.

Are you bonded?

Employees of Compassion Network are bonded and insured to meet the requirements of Alberta Health Services. All employees must undergo a police information check with a vulnerable sector search.

What services are required for a nurse instead of a Health Care Aide?

LPN Nurses provide services such as

  • Record vital signs
  • Collect urine samples from patients
  • Dress wounds
  • Administer medications out of scope of a Health Care Aide (narcotics, Insulin, Intramuscular, Subcutaneous, Intravenous, PICC, etc.)
  • Deliver health education programs
  • Dialysis
  • Foot Care (with additional certification)

Health Care Aides:

  • Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing and other personal hygiene activities
  • Assist with feeding patients
  • Assist with bed transfers, lifting, turning and walking
  • Assist with range of motion exercises
  • Assist with simple wound care, respiratory equipment use or urinary care
  • Report on patient condition to the nurse
  • Assist patients to take their medications
  • Communicate with patients
  • Take and record vital signs

Do you have a minimum for home care visits?

Providing you with consistent, quality (non-rushed) care is important to us. Our minimum hours for home care service is 3 hours weekly.

“They really do take the extra effort to tailor the service to [Dad’s] specific needs. You can see that they truly care about their clients. We would highly recommend their service!”
